Jules van Dongen Darts Range by Winmau - Product Review

Jules van Dongen, also known as "The Dutch Dragon", has been playing darts ever since he was young. The Dutch-American star credits fellow Dutch darts legend Raymond van Barneveld as one of his biggest inspirations as he began navigating the world of soft tip and steel tip darts, cultivating his rising competitive darts career in 2020.

Proving himself to be a fierce competitor, Jules earned his CDC player card in 2021 after a series of hard-earned victories across the US, including the Missouri State Championship, Cherry Bomb International, Seacoast Open, and more. Later, after completing Q-School in 2021, Jules also earned his PDC card.

Since then, he's become a cherished member of Team Winmau alongside other US darts players, participating in huge events like the PDC World Cup of Darts and the US Darts Masters — and now celebrates the debut of his very first Winmau Jules van Dongen Darts Range!

The Dutch Dragon decided to go bold for his debut Jules van Dongen darts with a super aggressive dart! Throughout most of the barrel is a diamond sandpaper grip that will undoubtedly stick sharply against your fingers, ensuring it won't slip as you play.

As for the design, Jules went simple with classic radial grooves and a wide band in the middle. While the finish features a natural tungsten finish, the diamond sandpaper texture makes the Jules van Dongen darts look multidimensional as the edges catch light from different angles. It reminds us of the Simon Whitlock Atomised darts, but a lot more aggressive.

Every Jules van Dongen darts barrel is made from 90% tungsten metal makeup. This is a common theme amongst many other top Winmau player darts as the higher percentage of tungsten gives the barrel a more dense and slimmer feel without compromising weight and durability.

Another homage to his representative country, the Jules van Dongen darts are decorated with a black and orange recolor of the American flag plus the Dutch star's name printed in bold letters across the side. His name "van" is also themed in the classic red, white, and blue of the American flag.

These special flights are new additions to the Winmau Prism Delta flights collection and are made from an extra thick, low-profile solid material that'll guarantee endurance and high performance.

Keeping it classic, Winmau used their top performing Vecta shafts to complement the Jules van Dongen darts range. Each shaft is made with high-impact polycarbonate material with an alloy tip, ensuring these shafts are durable and effective.

Most recently, Jules van Dongen teamed up with fellow American Danny Lauby on Team USA at the 2024 PDC World Cup of Darts. The duo fought hard against Team Portugal and Team Italy, all in Group L, but lost to their opponents. We're hopeful for future American representation in the World Cup as always!

Ever since the US Darts Masters moved to New York in 2022, Jules van Dongen graced the MSG stage for a whopping 3 years in a row — an impressive feat for his career but also for American darts!

The Dutch Dragon put up a fierce fight against PDC opponent Gerwyn Price, producing a 119 checkout against the Iceman and placing in the top 16 after a chilling battle for the quarter-finals.

The 2024 North American Championship took place alongside the US Darts Masters in New York where The Dutch Dragon also participated. Facing fellow American players and the best from Canada, Jules lost in the quarter-finals against Stowe Buntz for went on to finish runner-up against Matt Campbell.

Nevertheless, it was a huge moment for Jules to showcase the best of American darts as the sport continues to rise in the States. It will only continue to grow from here with the Winmau US Player Launch with the Jules van Dongen darts!
