Crux Darts Range by Target - Product Review

Target designed the Crux Darts Range to create the best balance and performance in an easy to use, entry-level dart range. It's the ideal fit for newcomers, enthusiasts, and professionals alike to push their throwing skills to new heights!
Jen Mounts gives you an in-depth review and unboxing of the Crux Darts Range by Target. She compares models 01 & 10 as they are near identical, models 02 & 11 since they share similarities and covers model 03 as the outlier - plus some throwing action at the end.
Let’s go over each aspect one by one:
The Crux darts range features common themes that all available models share including cuts, Crux edition flights, and Pro Grip shafts.
Crux is clearly the economical choice from this year’s launch as it features a natural Tungsten finish and lacks color or coating that greatly increase the retail value of darts.
Despite having multiple barrels and lots of different grips, the barrel design itself only consists of simple radial grooves and reverse cut sections.
This range's signature vibrant orange is seen once again in the Crux edition flights, tying the color scheme all together!
These special flights have a unique spot UV design and are crafted in 100 micron for increased durability so your darts will last through all the throwing action.
Keeping it classic, Target used their market leading Pro Grip shaft for the Crux darts. Each shaft is made with a high strength nylon that features a smooth lead in with a secure grip, so they'll not only feel good in your hands - they also won't take away from the overall grip of these darts.
These shafts have a quite modern and sleek look with the orange and black colors, complementing the rest of the Crux design nicely.
All Crux darts share the same material composition – the barrel is made from 90% tungsten metal makeup.
You typically don't see 90% tungsten barrels with precision milling at such affordable price point, adding to the accessibility aspect of these high quality tungsten darts – anyone can buy them without breaking the bank!
The main difference between the darts in this range is that all of the models offer a variety of different barrel shapes and grips. In steel tip, 3 barrel shapes are offered while soft tip offers 2 shapes.
All cuts and designs are universal across the board.
There are 5 total options available (3 steel tip labeled 01-03 and 2 soft tip barrels labeled 10 and 11) with multiple barrel weights for each option. Let’s start by comparing the steel tip 01 & the soft tip 10 since they are almost an exact match.
The Crux darts 01 & 10 are both a straight barrel shape with consistent diameter throughout.
However, the soft tip version is noticeably shorter in length than the steel tip 01 variation and it has a slightly skinnier diameter.
View the various weight options that we carry below:
We rate the overall grip intensity of Crux darts models 01 and 10 a surprising 4 out of 5. That shark cut in the rear is quite aggressive!
Both Crux darts models 02 and 11 are near similar: they have the exact same cuts, however, the barrel shape differs.
While soft tip model 11 is a straight barrel shape, steel tip model 02 has an extreme taper toward the swiss point in the front and a very slight taper towards the back. The steel tip barrel is also longer and has a wider diameter in all weights compared to the soft tip versions.
We rate the overall grip intensity of model 02 and 11 a 3 out of 5 and the very center section a 3 and ½ out of 5 since the middle band is separated by very fine micro grooves that are widely spaced out. Those wider gap ring cuts allow for your skin to nestle further down into them offering a more aggressive middle section.
Our final outlier barrel is the steel tip model 03. It is unlike anything else in the entire range.
We see different milling choices and totally new barrel shape! We have this almost tall hour glass looking extreme scallop shape to the dart which you really don't see too often.
