Cali West Darts Bio
Cali first started playing steel tip darts in her local league, the Salt City Dart League, in 1999. However, she learned the game at a young age from her cousin Jim whose father owned a dart supply shop in New York City. Ever since then, West found her love for darts and continues to climb her way to the top of her darts career.
She had early success in local events and by 2005, she decided to start traveling to tournaments around the country. She has been a regular on the North American Darts Circuit ever since. As a result of her hard work, she has placed top 10 in the country for 12 consecutive years with most of those finishes being in the top 5, including 4 years as the number 1 ranked ADO player in the United States.
Not long after, Cali began traveling to Ontario, Canada to participate in more tournaments outside of the United States. There she met her current partner, Robin Curry, and the two have been one of the most successful ladies pairs teams in America. As a testament to Cali's success and talent, she has traveled abroad representing the U.S. in world competitions, such as the World Masters and WDF World Cup. On her website: Cali West Darts, she blogs about her extensive travel experiences and tournaments through the years.
Cali still stays involved on the local level, playing in the top division of her league, and was recently elected Vice President on the board of directors. She is always willing to help a newcomer to the sport and enjoys promoting the game – a grand mission she aims to achieve through her Youtube channel, Garage Darts.

- From 4th grade and throughout high school, West was in her school band and almost pursued a professional flutist career - even passing on an audition at Julliard!
- In high school and college, Cali played basketball at the division III level and once scored 18 points in 20 minutes on her 21st birthday.
- Cali was an art major in college as she always loved drawing and painting.
- Cali and Robin Curry, her darts pairs partner, got married in 2013.
- Cali enjoys writing, reading, woodworking, and biking when she's not playing at tournaments.

Fascinated with her accomplished darts career and eager to learn more, we reached out to Cali to ask her a few questions and dig deep into her love for the game.
Q: What got you interested in playing darts?
A: I've played darts since I was a kid, as a few of my family members were into darts. It's always been in my life to some degree. But it was something I came back to more seriously when I could no longer compete in basketball or softball.
It's a great outlet for my competitive nature.
Q: What does Darts mean to you?
A: As the homepage on my website states, "darts is really my life". I have played for so long, I can't imagine my life without it. Through darts I have been able to travel the world. I met my current employer through darts, and I met my wife of 20 years through darts.
The connections I've made have had lifelong impact and I cherish all the amazing friendships I have gained through darts.
Q: Do you have any tips for those getting into Darts?
A: First, check out my Youtube channel Garage Darts! Everything you need to know is in those videos! But the first few tips would be to work on your form. The better your form when throwing, the further the game can take you.
Also, just be patient. This is a more difficult sport than it looks! Gains in accuracy come over time, not overnight.
Q: What is the biggest highlight of your time playing darts?
A: There are so many, it is hard to pick. But I think earning my spot on the World Cup USA team 6 consecutive times is probably the biggest highlight for me.
Q: What is your Magical secret to winning at darts?
A: Resilience.
Q: Do you have any words to live by or inspirational quotes?
A: Live every day with purpose. Life is short, take advantage of every moment given.
Q: If there is one thing you would like people to know about you, what would it be?
A: I am an avid DIY'er. I do all the maintenance on my cars, learned a lot from my dad growing up, who was a backyard mechanic. I also do all home repair/improvements, from drywall to tilework and cabinetry.
It's a very rewarding hobby.

Garage Darts: Cali West Darts Youtube Channel
With all of the amazing opportunities Cali West Darts has experienced in this sport and the extensive darts knowledge she's amassed over the years, West wanted to give back to the sport that has given her so much. She has since dedicated herself to creating a YouTube channel called Garage Darts.
Using her education and love for art, Cali actually produces all of the Garage Darts episodes herself – drawing all the animations, developing the scripts, laying in the audio tracks, and editing it all together into what she hopes is entertaining as well as informative.
THE GARAGE DARTS BRAND MISSION
With the creation of Garage Darts, the main Cali West Darts brand aims to help friends, family, and other potential enthusiasts – who are unfamiliar with the world of darts – understand the game that transformed her life into what it is today. She hopes that as her channel grows, her content will shed light on the game for the American public who previously knew little to nothing about darts.
Right now, the Garage Darts Youtube channel serves as a resource for learning the basics of the game, but she plans to move into more advanced topics as the episodes progress. Her hope is that one day darts is as popular in the US as it is in other parts of the world.
INSPIRATION BEHIND THE NAME
The name ‘Garage Darts’ is a tribute to the many days Cali spent hanging out in the garage with her dad – a mechanic at heart. She continues to enjoy working in her garage to this day, always working on her car or other handy projects at home. She even has a dartboard mounted on her garage wall, combining two of her favorite things in one room!

Garage Darts is inspired by Cali's dart career. Over the span of 20+ years she has played darts, she has found too many people that know nothing about the game of darts! So came the idea to create a special Cali West Darts channel that takes the mystery out of the game. Using Wedges to win
Using her expertise, Cali West darts discusses a viable strategy for the beginner to use at the end of a close '01 game. This is another way to approach that must-hit shot to ensure you get darts at your double before your opponent takes their shot!
This theory involves using wedges on the dartboard. A wedge is where 2 or more odd or even numbers are next to each other on the board, which gives you a larger target to aim for. If your dart strays from the intended target a little, the wedge should give you that little extra space you may need when shooting that pressure dart.
