As the newest range of the Zen darts collection, the Zen Kensho Darts Range introduces a new ethereal edge to Shot's collection with intricate designs and tranquil colors. For beginners and more intermediate players alike, this dart range bring a new pursuit of peace to everyone's game.
Jen Mounts gives you an in-depth review and unboxing of the Zen Kensho Darts Range by Shot. She compares the steel tip and soft tip versions and elaborates on the overall design including cuts, coating and grip intensity - plus some throwing action at the end.
Let’s go over each aspect one by one:
Much like the classics of the Zen collection, the Zen Kensho darts are reminiscent of their Zen predecessors with a series of radial grooves. These darts are fashioned in a sleek dark grey-black Onyx coating across their design.
Starting in the rear, squared off radial grooves run past the tapered smooth section - then the trademark pyramid grip by Shot offers a more aggressive grip reference point in the middle. As the barrel tapers downward towards the point, the dart design finishes off with even more radial grooves.
Take a sneak peek at how the Zen Kensho darts were manufactured at the Shot workshop with this quick snapshot into the process!
We rate the grip intensity of the front and rear section a 3 out of 5. We also gave a little bump to the center trademark pyramid grip with a grip intensity of 3 ½ out of 5.
The Zen Kensho darts work really well for dart players with a 2 or 3 finger hold as they can take advantage of the short barrel shape that accommodates a closed in grip style.
All Zen Kensho darts share the same material composition – the barrel is made from 90% tungsten metal makeup. The higher percentage of tungsten gives the barrel a more dense and slimmer feel without compromising weight and durability.
The soft tip and steel tip versions of the Zen Kensho darts are near identical except for the bomber shape diameter and the very front section. The steel tip variation is slightly longer in the front as its nose tapers down to the point. Also, the steel tip version is more extreme in its bomber shape with a noticeably wider max diameter compared to the soft tip in all weights.
This little bomber clearly needed a special tungsten billet ordered for the machining of that 8.2 - 8.6mm diameter potential with weight options going all the way up to 28 grams!

The Zen Kensho steel tip darts are fitted with standard black points from Shot, featuring a sleek black steel material that'll ensure your points last.
The Zen Kensho darts soft tip set includes Premium Lippoint soft tips from L-Style that work with all soft tip dartboards. They are durable and offer extra finger grip patterns at the base of the tip to help prevent bounce outs.
Don't forget that you can convert any soft tip dart into a steel tip dart simply by grabbing a set of conversion points!

Once again, Shot debuts a new intricately detailed flight for the Zen Kensho darts. An all seeing eye peers at you from the center of the flight, surrounded by golden details that truly make this design feel celestial. Teal blue leaves surround the one eye, sprouting with bright red berries for an extra pop of color.
The Kensho edition flights come in a Standard version and L-Style EZ L1 version, which comes in a unique wide hourglass shape. Both versions of the Kensho flights are crafted in 100 micron for high performance and durability so your darts will last through all the throwing action.
Shot used their tough and durable Eagle Claw Shafts for the Zen Kensho darts. Deep cuts in the shaft ensure your flight is safely secured on and won't pop off.
Each shaft is made with a polycarbonate material with 2BA thread – the most common type for most dart shafts – and an additional ring to tightly secure the shaft to your barrel.
There you have it! We've covered the full barrel range: both Steel Tip and Soft Tip versions. Click the image below shop the entire Zen Kensho darts range or click the Shop Now button.
