Sniper Special Edition Darts by Winmau and Sniper Black

|
Winmau shows some love in this launch to the Sniper Darts Series by introducing the Sniper Special Edition Darts and the Sniper Black Darts. The Classic Sniper Darts Range has also been expanded with new weight options for some of the existing Sniper darts models.
Starting with the Sniper Special Edition Darts Range, these one of a kind Sniper darts have an entirely new barrel design for each model with vastly different grip profiles. The only similarity between the Special Edition darts is the black and silver aesthetic seen across the entire Sniper collection.
Jen Mounts gives you an in-depth review of the Sniper Special Edition Darts Range by Winmau. She compares models 1506 & 1510 in steel tip only - plus some throwing action at the end.
Let’s go over each aspect one by one:
The Sniper SE 1506 has an incredibly unique barrel design with 4 completely different sections. These Sniper darts have a smooth section in the rear followed by 4 widespread reverse cut bands in the center interrupted by a triangle shaped axial cut revealing the natural silver tungsten beneath the Onyx coating.
In the front half of the Special Edition Sniper darts, the largest diameter section full of V-channel micro cuts is interrupted by more axial micro cuts. Finally, an extreme short taper into the very front is offset by 6 very large and wide axial grooves.
We rated the grip intensity of the Sniper SE 1506 with various scores for each section. For the front of these Sniper darts, we rated the grip intensity a 3 out of 5. The middle is a 5 out of 5 and the rear is a 1 out of 5.
The 1510 variation of the Special Edition Sniper darts couldn't be more different the than first! Starting in the rear, there are much tighter spaced reverse cut offset by micro axial grooves. Then, a major notch in the barrel offers an extreme and smooth scallop grip reference point.
Past the scallop are some radial bands offset by long axial cuts. The front half features wider spread reverse cut into a smoother section - all offset by various axial cuts and an even taper into the steel point.
We rate the grip intensity of the Sniper SE 1506 a 2.5 out of 5.
As a Special Edition of the classic Sniper darts, both the Sniper SE 1506 and 1510 barrels are made from 90% tungsten metal makeup. The Sniper darts collection is clearly a high-end favorite of this Winmau collection with their high composition of tungsten.
The higher percentage of tungsten gives the barrel a more dense and slimmer feel without compromising weight and durability.
There are two options available, Model 1506 and 1510, with multiple barrel weights for each option. These Special Edition Sniper darts are only available in steel tip for all steel tip lovers out there.
Let’s start by comparing the 1506 and the barrel it was based on: the Sniper Classic 1492 barrels.
The model 1506 special edition differs from the original sniper darts 1492 in 3 ways:
#1 the radial cuts differ in the front - silver has reverse cut and the new special edition has a tighter spaced V channel cut.
#2 The special edition is coated in black.
#3 the SE dart passes through the machine again to get it’s axial cuts.

The special The model 1510 have near identical radial milling as the original sniper darts 1494 and differ in 2 ways:
#1 The special edition is coated in black.
#2 the SE dart passes through the machine again to get it’s axial cuts.

Paired with the Sniper Special Edition darts are white editions of the Sniper darts Prism Alpha flights featuring wide curved bands colored in whites, greys and silvers.
These flights are new additions to the Winmau Prism Alpha flights collection and are made from an extra thick, unique poly metronic material that'll guarantee endurance and high performance.
Note: Our current stock of the Sniper Special Edition darts come with the white color flights (pictured left) and not the green flights as pictured in the marketing images. However, this is not guaranteed as sometimes different flights are packaged due to manufacturing decisions outside of our control.
The Special Edition Sniper darts come with Prism Force shafts that feature a special milling grip zone to complement the design and extend more grip from the rear. Each shaft is made from a polycarbonate material that provides unsurpassed performance and high durability.
These shafts are interestingly transparent towards the rear, a design choice that is unique from the rest of the Prism Force shafts collection.

Re-envisioned in a sleek black color coating, the Sniper Black Darts Range in steel tip (left) is a new spin on the classic Sniper darts steel tip model 1494 (right). The cuts and grip profile of both Sniper barrels are exactly the same; only the coating color is different.
The soft tip version of the Sniper Black darts (left) is also a black recolor of the classic Sniper darts soft tip model 2014 (right). Again the cuts and grip profile of both Sniper darts barrels are exactly the same; only the coating color is different.
