Following an incredible year with the PDC and new career-high achievements, the Luke Humphries TX3 Darts Range are Red Dragon's testament to Cool Hand Luke's hard work and determination over his career. These special edition darts come in a Cool Blue silver version and a Gold model (we currently only carry the Cool Blue variation).
Luke “Cool Hand Luke” Humphries made his mark on the competitive dart scene as he became the oldest player – at only 24 years old – to win the PDC World Youth Championship against Adam Gawlas in 2019.
Now graduated from being a youth player, Luke went on to reach the PDC World Championship quarter finals several times in 2019, 2020 and 2022, cementing Luke's competitive presence in the world of darts.
The Luke Humphries TX3 design has adopted the style of Luke’s fallback barrel design that won him three major PDC titles in the same calendar year, starting with his World Grand Prix win over Gerwyn Price. Following shortly were his incredible Grand Slam and Cazoo Players Championship titles against fierce opponents like Rob Cross and Michael van Gerwen.
After kicking off the new year with a sensational victory at the World Darts Championship, Luke Humphries is now the newly crowned number one player in the world!
Jen Mounts gives you an in-depth review of the Luke Humphries TX3 Darts Range by Red Dragon. She compares the soft tip and steel tip versions and elaborates on the overall design including cuts, coating and grip intensity – plus some throwing action in the end.
Let’s go over each aspect one by one:
As a simplification of the TX2, the Luke Humphries TX3 darts can be characterized by plain grooves and a classic front-weighted shape. The weight distribution perfectly suits the tail end of his flight trajectory as it drops down just at the right time.
Starting in the rear, 8 skinny radial grooves offering very subtle grip as the Luke Humphries TX3 barrel tapers up to the max diameter. Then, just past the center, the dart reaches its max diameter and showcases 3 much wider spaced radial grooves – offering a little more bite and more surface area for your fingers to nestle into.
Finally, the front tapers down towards the point with the smallest amount of grip to those tightly spaced thin radial grooves.
Overall, we rate the entire Luke Humphries TX3 darts range with a grip intensity of a 2 out of 5.
Every Luke Humphries TX3 darts barrel is made from 90% tungsten metal makeup.
Many other Red Dragon player darts are made in 90% tungsten as the higher percentage of tungsten gives the barrel a more dense and slimmer feel without compromising weight and durability.
The soft tip and steel tip versions of the Luke Humphries TX3 darts share the same length. However, the steel tip variation has a more noticeable torpedo shape to it, especially in the nose where it tapers to potentially get tighter grouping – leading to more 180s.
Red Dragon released a gold-blue version and a silver-blue version of the TX3 range; however, A-Z Darts currently carries only the Cool Blue SE Luke Humphries TX3 darts.

The Luke Humphries TX3 flights were clearly inspired by his nickname “Cool Hand Luke” with an ice cold aesthetic. Aside from the icy blue and white color scheme, symmetrical geometric lines appear to form the shape of a snowflake.
As the newest addition to the Red Dragon Hardcore flight collection, the Luke Humphries TX3 flights are made using an extra thick durable material and glossy UV coating.
Completing the icy aesthetic of the Luke Humphries TX3 darts, Red Dragon chose the Nitrotech dart shafts for their classical looks and durability.
Each Luke Humphries TX3 shaft is made with a flight locking system that ensures your flights won't break or fall out of the shaft as you throw.
There you have it! We've covered the full barrel range: both Steel Tip and Soft Tip versions. Click the image below shop the entire Luke Humphries TX3 darts range or click the Shop Now button.

With over 13 years of experience, it's no wonder Luke Humphries has a long history of major darting achievements. This year was a monumental year for Luke with record-shattering wins and the debut of the Luke Humphries TX3 darts. Here are some of his most recent career highlights:
A fierce finale played out between Luke Humphries and youth sensation Luke Littler at the World Darts Championship where Cool Hand broke records once again, claiming the World Champion title with a whopping 103 average and 23 180s for the Big 180 campaign.
Humphries now sits at No.1 on the PDC Order of Merit, a massive career high after finishing out 2023 with several sensational accomplishments, including the release of his Luke Humphries TX3 darts.
Just before the release of the the Luke Humphries TX3, Luke conquered the PDC once again with his third major title of the season at the 2023 Cazoo Players Championships.
Despite Michael van Gerwen – his opponent in the finale – throwing an amazing nine-darter, Luke triumphed against the three-time world champion and took home the grand prize.
Luke won his second televised title of the year at the 2023 Grand Slam of Darts 44 days right after the World Grand Prix, marking the shortest gap ever between a PDC player's first and second major wins.
Rob Cross, 2018 PDC World Champion, was his opponent in the heated final match, and Luke gloriously triumphed with a score of 16-8 and an impressive tournament average of 104.69.
Luke blew away the competition at the final of the World Gran Prix earlier this year as he reached victory against 2021 World Champion Gerwyn Price.
Securing such a triumphant win against a previous World Champion title holder meant that Luke was able to surpass Price on the PDC Order of Merit.
We're always following up on Luke's next big story over here at A-Z Darts. Our very own live streaming platform, USA Darts on Youtube, showcases America's best in our own head-to-head matches and tournaments playlists – including exclusive interviews with Luke Humphries himself!
Right before his match with Jose de Sousa at the 2023 World Matchplay, USA Darts interviews Luke about his recent performances, his connection with Red Dragon and more.
After his first round win over Alex Spellman at the 2023 US Darts Masters, Luke Humphries and USA Darts chat about his trip to New York, life on tour and more.
The Cool Blue SE Luke Humphries TX3 barrels are clearly profiled to match Cool Hand Luke’s own style of throw, allowing for a front-weighted feel with his mid-level grip. Luke himself has said he doesn’t like a lot of grip, so his darts are back to a minimalist pattern on the Luke Humphries TX3 – which we consider his ultimate fall back barrel design.
If you like a shorter barrel, front-weighted and not too much grip – the trifecta for a 2-grip hold – get yourself equipped today with Cool Hand Luke's newest signature range: Luke Humphries TX3 Darts Range.
