Atrax Darts Range by Harrows - Product Review

Named after the venomous funnel-web spiders native to Australia, the Atrax Darts Range introduces an arachnoid style in a striking red color to the Harrows 2024 launch with special characteristics reminiscent of the 8-legged creatures.
Jen Mounts gives you an in-depth review and unboxing of the Atrax Darts Range by Harrows. She compares the steel tip and soft tip versions and elaborates on the overall design including cuts, coating and grip intensity - plus some throwing action at the end.
Let’s go over each aspect one by one:
Harrows did not shy away from creating an incredibly complex and intricately designed barrel for the Atrax darts! Each barrel is expertly milled and features a wide variety of grooves to enhance its design.
Starting in the rear past the smooth section, you'll see tightly spaced radial bands in silver tungsten, then red metallic coating and finally sleek black nitride. The rest of the dart features more radial grooves offset by a spider web axial cut design highlighted by the natural silver of the tungsten barrel.
Some of the axial cuts are straight and some are curved, giving the barrel an illusion of a symmetrical spider web pattern throughout. Meanwhile, the barrel itself is a classic straight/parallel shape with a slight taper at the point.
Overall, we give the Harrows Atrax range a grip intensity of 2.5 out of 5. All the milling makes it look more aggressive than it feels.
If you grip in the front or middle, you won’t feel any difference between the straight and curved lines because the curved web axial cut only becomes prominent in the rear. If you’re a rear gripper and have a coil to your throw, you might find more interesting and new references for grip in the back.
One grip style we recommend for the Atrax range is a pinched 3 finger hold, perfect for those who grip in the middle and like long, straight barrels.
If you're more of a rear gripper, another grip style we recommend for the Atrax range is an alternating three finger grip with the dart resting on top of the middle finger. With this style, you're able to take advantage of all the intricate milling running along the barrel.
All Atrax darts share the same material composition – the barrel is made from 95% tungsten metal makeup. It's a luxurious amount of tungsten metal that makes the Atrax darts look and feel unlike any other range.
The higher percentage of tungsten gives the barrel a more dense and slimmer feel without compromising weight and durability.
Overall, both the soft tip and steel tip versions of the Atrax darts are nearly identical, sharing the same barrel length. However, the steel tip variation has a more noticeable taper towards the point. Between the black titanium nitride, the red metallic coating in the grooves and the sick webbed milling design flowing through most of the barrel – the Atrax darts are simply a cool looking barrel.

Completing the spider web theme of the Atrax darts, the Red Atrax edition flights feature a large spider graphic outlined in black and red on top of a webbed network of glossy intersecting lines – it looks just like a spider spinning its web. A smooth gradient from black to Atrax's signature bright red add a splash of vibrant color to the flights.
The Atrax flights are made of premium 100 micron material and are available with the same arachnoid design in additional colors including green, blue and color shift.
Adding to their visual flair, Harrows paired the Red Carbon ST shafts with the Atrax range. These shafts have a distinctive shaft profile with geometric ridges in a translucent red running along the sides of the shaft, giving it extra shape and allowing more airflow around the dart.
These shafts come in a variety of colors – including red, green and blue to match the different Atrax flights.
